BASIC – Basic Assessment and Support in ICU
This two-day course covers the essential elements of Intensive Care medicine, pitched at new doctors and nurses entering into critical care environments.
Topics covered include assessing seriously ill patients, airway management, managing respiratory failure, ventilation basics and strategies, haemodynamic monitoring and shock, trauma management, neurological emergencies, sepsis, nutrition, renal impairment and electrolyte disturbances, sedation and transport of the critically ill patient.

- Round 1: February 6 and 7
- Round 2: March 27 and 28
- Round 3: June 12 and 13
- Round 4: August 28 and 29
- Round 5: October 30 and 31
The ICU BASIC is hosted at the SCGH Simulation Centre but is run by the SCGH ICU Department.
