Interpreters can be provided to patients and their families who are non-English speaking or have a hearing impairment.
If you would like an interpreter, please call (08) 6457 4698 and ask for the Language Services Officer before your appointment. This service is free to all Australian residents.
Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital uses professional interpreters who are accredited through National Australian Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) and have a code of ethics ensuring confidentiality, impartiality and accuracy.
The use of family members, children, friends or other bilingual individuals who may offer to help the patient or family communicate in English is discouraged.
