C16 – Geriatrics
Primarily admits patients over the age of 65 years from the Acute Medical Assessment Unit (G72) and directly from the Emergency Department.
Fifteen beds allocated to Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) and 14 beds allocated to the Delerium Care Unit (supports the care and management of patients with acute delirium).
C17 – Geriatric Evaluation and Management
Fourteen-bed sub-acute, short stay, geriatric rehabilitation ward which provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for elderly medically stable patients who care needs are best met in a tertiary hospital environment.
The ward also offers professional development opportunities.
OPH - Ward 2
Sixteen-bed unit consisting of 13 stroke rehabilitation beds for patients over the age of 65 (or 45 if Aboriginal) and three beds for rehabilitation medicine.
Rehabilitation medicine patients tend to be amputees or dialysis patients (generally with a diabetic or vascular component) with complex wounds.
Also facilitates an Early Supported Stroke Discharge Service and houses a purpose-built room for bariatric patients. Lots of learning opportunities for professional development.
OPH - Ward 3 and 4
Ward 3 is a 25-bed geriatric acute and rehabilitation unit admitting patients with various health issues while Ward 4 is a 30-bed geriatric rehabilitation unit.
Nurses have great opportunities to upskill and gain experience in different areas. The wards also have good SDN support.
OPH - Ward 5
Acute medical ward with 30 beds. It has a supportive team with its own SDN and CNS to support and develop staff. Further learning opportunities and progression opportunities are available.
OPH - Ward 7
Thirty-bed younger adult rehabilitation unit providing speciality nursing in reconditioning, orthopaedics, amputee, renal and cancer.
Provides opportunities for wound care skills and is the only rehabilitation unit providing shared care in CAPD (continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis).
