Our SCGOPHCG Employee of the Month Award winner for March is Jeanette Tibby RN SCGH. Jeanette is on long service leave so we are not able to include a photo of her smiling face.

Jeanette was nominated by Elly Nason CN who described her as one of those nurses you meet in your career that makes a lasting impression, with their level of caring and compassion.

"As a valued member of the CCU team, she goes above and beyond for her patients and all her fellow colleagues every day. Jeanette's kind and caring manner is only second to her wicked sense of humour and constant laughter she brings to the ward. Working with her lightens our day and makes us strive to be better nurses," said Elly.

Jeanette not only listens to her patients’ needs but also does everything in her power to make their stay in hospital a more enjoyable one, including bringing flowers from her own garden for an elderly patient who missed the smell of roses. She is tireless in her ability to deliver exceptional clinical care, while having the emotional intelligence to deliver the same psychological care. As a colleague, in times of emotional distress Jeanette is by your side always available for a chat and a hug. For her patients, she will not leave until she feels she can do no more.

Despite her amazingly caring side, Jeanette is a fierce advocate for her patients and their families. She is honest and has a strong moral compass, and isn't afraid to have hard conversations, for the best outcome for her patients.

Through years of working in Coronary Care, she has developed a huge range of clinical skills that allow her to provide good healthcare, but it’s her amazing ability to truly care about her patients that allows her to deliver more than just 'care' but compassion, empathy and kindness.

Jeanette is an excellent communicator and is able to express her deep admiration for those people who she respects, both patients, family members and fellow colleagues. She is also able to respect their wishes and feelings, and understands that as nurses it is part of our job to do this, even if we don't always agree.

Congratulations Jeanette, you are clearly such a deserving Employee of the Month Award winner and we thank you for your dedication and compassion.

Jeanette and her colleagues will be invited to a catered afternoon tea where she will be presented with a $150 gift voucher from our sponsors.

A special thanks to our generous sponsors: HESTA, Paywise, Smartsalary and StatePlus.

If you've had a great experience with one of our staff members why not put them forward for an award? Next time you are onsite ask how you can submit a nomination.
