Radiopharmaceutical Production and Development (RAPID)
The Radiopharmaceutical Production and Development (RAPID) Laboratories produces radiopharmaceuticals for positron emission tomography (PET) scanning at the WA PET Centre located at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and for other PET camera providers.
The radiopharmaceuticals are used for PET imaging for patients with cancer, neurological, heart and other conditions undergoing.
RAPID was established in 2003 and was the first cyclotron and PET radiopharmaceutical production facility for WA.
A major redevelopment of RAPID is nearing completion and will include a new state-of-the-art laboratory and a second cyclotron machine to increase the production of radiopharmaceutical products.
RAPID provides PET radiopharmaceuticals commercially and through both state and national collaborations to the research community.
It is the only public radiopharmaceutical and cyclotron facility available in WA and serves both metropolitan and regional areas.
