Central Venous Catheter Insertion Course

This is a half day course run by SCGH specialists from Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, Renal Medicine and Emergency Medicine.

The program covers:

• Relevant anatomy
• Common pitfalls and troubleshooting
• Types of central lines available

Participants will engage in hands-on stations focusing on:

• Needling techniques using ultrasound and landmark approaches
• Securing lines
• Femoral lines
• Vascular catheters
• Ultrasound techniques

Important: Proficiency in ultrasound cannulation is essential for successful completion of the CVC course. If you wish to improve your ultrasound skills beforehand, consider enrolling in the Ultrasound IVC Course.

Eligibility

• Open to RMO level and above across all medical specialties. Senior nursing staff (CNS, Nurse Practitioners, etc) currently working in ICU, ED, or Vascular Access roles within the hospital. If you have questions about eligibility, please contact the Simulation Centre.
