Readiness for the Initial Assessment Anaesthesia Competency Training (RIAACT)

This three-day course is designed forIntroductory Anaesthesia Trainees ;on the WA Anaesthesia Rotational Scheme and is delivered collaboratively by Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

Participants will enhance their ability to manage anaesthetic crises through interactive tutorials and immersive simulation scenarios, building confidence and competence in high-stakes situations.

Please note: The RIAACT course is an internal course run for ANZCA Introductory Trainees attending SCGH and so is not currently open to external applicants.

Topics include

• Crisis resource management
• ANZCA standards of monitoring
• Intra-hospital transfers and remote anaesthesia
• Management of anaesthetic emergencies:
• Arrhythmias
• High airway pressures
• Bronchospasm and laryngospasm
• Critical hyper/hypotension
• Workload management
