Hospital in the Home service expands

Hospital in the Home (HITH) Team 2025 Our Hospital in the Home team.
16/07/2025

Our Hospital in the Home service is expanding with more patients now able to receive care in the comfort of their own home.

The service at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Osborne Park Hospital enables 20 eligible patients to receive treatment away from a hospital setting.

Patients are visited at home each day by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals and can be seen by nurses up to twice daily if required.

The benefits are twofold, patients are closer to loved ones, in a familiar setting and have a reduced risk of hospital acquired complications, and onsite hospital beds are freed up for other patients.

In the past year, HITH saw more than 600 patients and conducted close to 4000 home visits saving close to 3000 total beds days across the two hospitals.

The total number of HITH beds is anticipated to expand further to 30 beds by the end of the year and to 50 in 2026.

If you are a nurse and are interested in joining the HITH the team, there are currently registered and clinical nurses positions available.
