Renal dialysis services

SCGH dialysis teamG65 is a 19-bay acute in-centre haemodialysis unit. It provides both haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis services. G65 accommodates patients from any dialysis unit in WA who may present to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for planned or unplanned treatments. We provide afterhours emergency haemodialysis treatments as required.

G65 operates with a multi-disciplinary team including the dialysis nurses, renal medical team, renal access clinical nurse specialists, chronic kidney disease clinical nurse specialists, dieticians, social and welfare officers and others from the allied health team.

The peritoneal dialysis (PD) service along with G63 provide care to patients on both continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) when in hospital. The peritoneal dialysis team work closely with the surgical team in managing PD catheter insertion and exteriorisation. They work closely with the Fresenius Kidney Care Home Therapies team in the coordination of training.
