Immunotherapy is used to treat certain types of cancers.

It may be given on its own or in combination with chemotherapy.

The possible side effects of immunotherapy are very different from the side effects of chemotherapy.

Immunotherapy treatments allow your own immune system to fight and attack your cancer cells.

Immunotherapy works better on certain types of cancer.

Not all types of cancers are suitable for immunotherapy treatment.

If you require more information regarding suitability please speak to your treating team.

It is important that if you develop any of the following side effects that you inform your treatment team.

Failure to report side effects early may result in treatment cessation.

If reported early, most side effects can be managed, and treatment can continue.

Please note that some side effects are more common than others.

Diarrhoea or loose bowel movements, skin rashes and/or itchiness, any shortness of breath or cough, any persistent headaches, dizziness, changes in appetite, and fatigue.

Please remember that if you develop any of these side effects while on immunotherapy, it is important that you report them early to your treating team.
