    Marr Mooditj students attend excursion at SCGH 12 January 2026 A student excursion was recently held at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for Aboriginal Health Practitioner students to support their studies and give them greater insight into the clinical service environment. Fifteen students from the Marr Mooditj Aboriginal Health Practitioner course attended with their educators to find out more about the clinical environment and working in a hospital. "The day was informative, interesting and I hope to take what I learn to the communities and to inform our mob," said one of the students. The students met with nurses, doctors, Aboriginal Health Liaison Officers and our Aboriginal Employment Unit, with the visit aimed to give students exposure to the clinical service environment, including the complex area of renal. North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) Area Director Clinical Services Dr George Eskander said he was delighted the organisation had received recognition for the innovative Junior Doctor Manifesto (JDM), which placed focus on more flexible work arrangements that has led to the remarkable uptake of junior doctor roles. Mia was presented with her award by Executive Director of Nursing Annie Thompson, at a special celebration at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on 9 May, 2023 as part of International Nurses Day celebrations. The Lorraine Johnson Preceptor award is given to the nurse who displays the attributes and skills considered invaluable in providing education and support to students and newly graduated nursing staff.     Ride of thanks by Perth grandfather for SCGH 28 March 2023 A former patient with stage four terminal brain cancer rode his bike from Bunbury to Perth over the weekend to raise funds and pay tribute to staff at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Despite Gordon MacDonald being diagnosed with stage four terminal brain cancer in January 2022 and given 12 to 14 months to live, he was determined to make this journey and raise funds via the Charlies Foundation.     Official Health Care Partner of World Transplant Games 21 March 2023 Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is proud to be appointed as the official Health Care Partner of the 2023 World Transplant Games. The World Transplant Games is a celebration of a second chance at life and aims to demonstrate the success of transplant surgery and raise awareness of organ and tissue donation. It also provides the chance to say thank you to donor families. Our Renal Medicine and Transplantation Department provides a tertiary level service for renal medicine in Perth's north metropolitan area, with outreach services reaching widely across the State.
